Oxford Weißwurstfrühstück

As a regular tradition, the Oxford Society in Munich kicked off the new year 2019 in style with the traditional Weißwurstfrühstück, including bavarian sausages, pretzels, beer and plenty of vegetarian options. The rule that the Weißwurst has to be served before noon dates back to the days when the lack of cooling facilities meant that the sausages would become spoilt quickly otherwise.

Together with our friends from LSE, we gathered at Donisl in the cozy Almchalet room, which is reminiscent of a skiing hut. Sitting along college-style hall tables and with a view right onto Marienplatz, a very diverse range of alumni gathered for the extensive brunch. The oldest of them have been to Oxford in the 1940s, while others graduated as recently as last year. Amidst the story-telling and exchange of ideas, some of the guests were oblivious of time and stayed on even after the booked time ended. Luckily, Donisl proved generous in this regard and even served delicious “Kaiserschmarrn” and other desserts.
